This senior session was an answer to a model call that I posted. What is a model call you ask? A model call is when a photographer presents an opportunity to photograph a potential client in exchange for usually a certain amount of digital images. The purpose is for the photographer to build his/her portfolio, try out new poses, locations, tips, and tricks, etc. When I launched my business at the start of the year, this is exactly what I did—a senior model call for current and upcoming seniors. Take a trip with me to downtown Ypsilanti for a summer senior session.
Samira is a graduating senior of the Class of 2021. She loves taking photos, getting dressed up, and putting on makeup. This model call is right up her alley. I’ll tell you as a photographer, it makes the session more exciting and easygoing when the client loves to be in front of the camera. All I have to do is shoot. Easy peasy! For the shots where I had to give some direction, she took it with grace and ran with it. She is no stranger in front of the camera. Once Samira felt comfortable, which wasn’t long after the shoot started, she took control of every shot I took. Every location and every outfit change produced beautiful results. Well over 300 shots were taken and it was so hard to narrow down the shots for the gallery because they were stunning.
Think About It…
When a photographer offers a Senior Model Call and senior pictures may not be in your budget, jump on the opportunity. It’s a great way to still participate in one of the most anticipated activities of your senior year, all the while you can experiment with different outfits, new looks you have been thinking about, capturing locations you think are cool, etc. It’s a win for both you and the photographer. I truly enjoyed shooting Samira’s senior session.
