Meet Mia. She attends Walled Lake Western High School and is a part of the graduating class of 2023. She is an actress and she loves fashion. Let’s take a look at her spring senior session at the Taylor Botanical Gardens and Heritage Park.
Who Doesn’t Love a Botanical Garden
This was my first time doing a shoot at the Taylor Botanical Gardens. It was beautiful, to say the least. Even though the flowers weren’t in full bloom yet, the scenery itself served as an amazing backdrop for Mia’s session. We had rails, benches, pavilions, foliage, walkways, etc. What more could a girl ask for? We had so many different spots to choose from and that gave us so much variety. The images we got from this location were stunning and were some of the best shots from the shoot.
Channeling Her Inner “Vogue”
Between the hair, the poses, and the dress, I couldn’t help to think that Mia showed up wanting to pose on the cover of Vogue magazine. The location was perfect for her outfit selection. I always tell clients that hair, makeup, outfit selection, and locations are key components to making a photo shoot work and to having fabulous images. The way we worked together to bring her vision to life for this location was nothing short of spectacular. When I showed her the behind-the-camera images, she instantly screamed, “YEEEEESSSSS!” She said it was exactly what she envisioned and she loved the look and vibe of her images. Happy client…happy photographer!
A Girl Just Wants to Do Hair
Mia will be attending Paul Mitchell The School in Farmington Hills this fall to study cosmetology. To capture her dream, we took some shots signifying her arrival. As props, she brought a smock, makeup brush, blow dryer, and flat iron. The images we captured showed her sincere excitement for her future. She has so much personality that she brought the images to life all on her own.
It’s Celebration Time
After we concluded our time at the botanical gardens, we walked over to Heritage Park for some casual shots. This location was more of a celebratory time and the realization that graduation is just around the corner and real life will begin. I asked Mia how it felt and she said, “It’s surreal. It hasn’t sunk in yet.” The moment was bittersweet, but the images were beautiful.
